The Japanese bantamweight destroyer is heading to Glasgow
Japanese star Naoya Inoue will have his next fight in the UK.
The pound-for-pound rated two-weight world champion will look to become a three-weight king against IBF bantamweight titlist Emmanuel Rodriguez on May 18 at the SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.
The bout has wound up in the UK as Inoue as currently taking part in the World Boxing Super Series bantamweight tournament.
His semi-final with Rodriguez is set to share a double-header with Scottish super-lightweight star Josh Taylor, who will have his own semi-final on the same night.
Naoya ‘The Monster’ Inoue is still only 17-0 (15 KOs) and has blasted through the light-flyweight and super-flyweight ranks at just 25 years of age.
Now up at bantamweight, he hopes to conquer a new division and win his first recognised world title at the weight when he takes on Rodriguez on May 18.
“My destiny is to win the prestigious Ali Trophy and prove I am the best bantamweight in the world,” said Inoue.
“I cannot wait to box in the United Kingdom in front of their loud fans and I will show them a ‘Monster’ performance.”
