Ryan Adams Accused of Abuse by Phoebe Bridgers, Mandy Moore, Underage Fan, More; Adams Denies It

Ryan Adams has been accused of abuse—ranging from emotional abuse to sexual misconduct—by several women, as The New York Times reports. The Times report, based on interviews with multiple people including Phoebe Bridgers, Adams’ ex-wife Mandy Moore, singer-songwriter Courtney Jaye, and other women, all of whom gave accounts of their experiences with Adams. There is also an interview with a woman named Ava, who claims she was 14 when she began talking to Adams, building an online relationship that eventually led to sexual conversations and at least one instance where Adams exposed himself to her over Skype.

Adams’ attorney Andrew B. Brettler said, “Mr. Adams unequivocally denies that he ever engaged in inappropriate online sexual communications with someone he knew was underage,” and also denied the “extremely serious and outlandish accusations” detailed in the Times report, calling some of the allegations “grousing by disgruntled individuals.” Pitchfork has reached out to representatives for Ryan Adams for further comment.
