Liz Cheney: Dems ‘Helping Vladimir Putin,’ Not Trump

Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., the chair of the House Republican Conference, said Friday that Democrats are doing more to help Russian President Vladimir Putin than President Donald Trump is, MSNBC reports.

At a press conference on Capitol Hill this week, Cheney told reporters that Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee who continue to investigate Trump, his connections to Russia, and its  attempts to influence the U.S. election are the ones helping Putin.

The panel recently voted to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt for refusing to provide Congress with the full, un-redacted report from special counsel Robert Mueller.

“Clearly, what the Democrats in the Judiciary Committee are doing is undermining our democracy and helping Vladimir Putin,” Cheney said, according to The Hill.

“If you look at what we know, and what we know from the Mueller report and other places, it is absolutely clear that the Russians have attempted, a number of them were indicted for attempting to influence, to undermine our democratic processes and the Democrats on the Judiciary Committee are doing exactly what Vladimir Putin would do if he could.”
