The ‘Body Snatcher’ has the chance to become mandatory for the winner of Wilder vs Fury
Eddie Hearn has declared that Dillian Whyte’s planned next fight date of April 20 at the O2 Arena is now very likely to be changed.
The 30-year-old announced the details of his next bout at the beginning of the month, however recent developments have changed his ideas.
On Tuesday night, the WBC ordered Whyte to fight Dominic Breazeale for their ‘interim’ heavyweight title.
The winner will become mandatory challenger to the Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury rematch winner.
As a result, the Brixton man will now target this route and forget about returning on April 20.
When asked about the O2 Arena show, Eddie Hearn told IFLTV: “The show’s definitely happening, but I doubt it’ll be Dillian Whyte on that card.
“I think he’s gonna be more like July.
“I think the purse bid [for the Breazeale fight] is gonna be in April and from there it’ll be 90 days [until the fight has to happen].”
Hearn later confirmed that a planned fight between Joseph Parker and Dereck Chisora could end up headlining the April 20 O2 show instead, though nothing is confirmed as yet.
